Wesley and the rest of my Alabama family were really surprised to see how generous the SN disc golfers truly are. Tee boxes are fixed now, Not only concreted all am pads, but now they've hauled in loads and loads of dirt to flush the boxes to the ground level. No more worries bout falling off the end.

Never good when P & R is "clearing", holes end up easier when they do. What are they clearing?

I wished they had taken my advice on the tee pads but I have a feeling they rushed it for this tourney. Imagine a certain busy body TD had something to do with that!! Smile Should have dug them out and laid them flush. They'll regret that decision I'm afraid. A decision I hope they don't make when they do the pros. Put dirt around them and it will wash, if grass holds it up it will have to be weedeated or they'll take the corners off of them with the mowers. Will be interesting to see how they fix 18 for sure. It could possibly be worse than that monstrosity of a tee pad on 2 at Vets. At least at Vet it's not really a hole that you would have to run up on. Not sure 18 at Hamilton's not. It plays longer than it is due to the hill.

I thought the finish on them was very grippy, not sure why they need another surface on them.

Looking forward to that tourney. I hope the turnout is great.

Just have faith and throw a wraith..I birdy'd 18 twice.. LOL...Hopefully again on the 7th.

Just clearing some underbrush growth in a couple of areas and dragging off some of the dead underbrush, no major cutting, it looks a lot cleaner.
Plans are to fill around each pad with dirt and/or grass.

It was mentioned & discussed, they will try to get to it before the tournament.
I shot a 49, near ace on #11 and hit the top of the basket on #12

Any word on them adding dirt around the pads to ease the entry? The edges are really high and dangerous.

Course Update (7/19/10)
Just got back from Hamilton where Zack and I met and played with some of the local disc golfers, Larry Armstrong, (Director of Parks & Rec.), Vic, Lenn and Mike. All 18 Am pads have been poured (10' x 5') with #15 tee box measuring 12' across the front for golfers to go the left route or the right route! Plans are to put a non-skid surface on them soon, something similar to tennis court paint. Lenn and other P&R staff members have been doing some clearing on the course and is in great shape!

Great job Tommy, looks great. I hope this tourney turns out to be huge.

I plan to make as I'm sure several from Amory do.

May God bless this young man and the family that so dearly loves him.

tee markers (large pavers) on the ground and hard to find due to dirt on top of most of them. Look for a worn out dirt spots if uncertain.

#1 tee behind one of the baseball fields (near small parking lot).
From there he will have to hunt for the markers.
Not hard to find, just time consuming.

Are there tee markers, tee boxes (stones or concrete), directional signs, cards for the public to direct them once there?

I have a guy in the area that wants to play. He needs to know these answers.

THanks,

7/3/10
Just an update, Wesley was looking, feeling good and in good spirits, actually got out of the house on Friday 7/2.

The course is in good shape, I had the chance to walk the course and play a few holes. There are two tee spots (not concrete yet) for every hole. Some holes very challenging and a creek running through the course that come in play on a few holes. It is located in a park with a walking track with some very nice holes. This will be the first tournament on the Aggieland Course.

The local community and neighboring towns, friend and families are very generous and helping with every aspect of the tournament.

We just added t-shirts (while they last) to the players pack.

Hole sponsors are coming in but still need more.

More updates later,
Joey

Keith Spotts,
Right now he needs you prayers.
Sponsorships and players are also needed.

I will be collecting new disc golf discs and merchandise until the tournament for give aways (ring of fire, ctp's, etc.)
Anyone wanting to donate, see me at one of the local minis.

Keith Teeple,
Thanks for the flyer, it looks great.

Players,
Mark this date on your calendar. Putting together a nice players pack.

Thanks,
Joey

For those that hasn't played in Hamilton, It's a fun course for all skill levels, beginner to pro. Mix between wooded and a few open holes for the longer arms. I'm all in... Put me down...Joey I'll drop by one day next week when we on your street.
